TRADUCCIÓN DE ESTUDIOS HUMANÍSTICOS  DE TEMÁTICA  MEDIOAMBIENTAL

El número especial de Ecozon@, Spring 2014 está dedicado a la traducción de textos relacionados con el medio ambiente, con especial énfasis en la traducción de las representaciones del YO y la naturaleza. Tres son los elementos esenciales que entran en juego: el texto original, el traductor y el texto meta. Y cada uno de ellos contiene a su vez otros elementos que pueden influir de un modo u otro en el resultado. Son estos elementos los que tratamos de explorar. Pretendemos llamar la atención sobre la “traducción”, entendida como vehículo de comunicación entre lenguas o sistemas distintos para ofrecer perspectivas complementarias a los temas del medio ambiente. Posibles temas, pero no exclusivos son:

- Estudios sobre el traslado de conceptos o metáforas ambientales y las implicaciones o diferentes imágenes que según las culturas genera.

- Estudios sobre la traducción / interpretación del lenguaje de otras especies a palabras.

- Traducción como proceso de textos humanísticos sobre el medio ambiente y la naturaleza  y tensiones que genera (dificultades de traducción de imágenes, actualización de  textos clásicos).

- Traducción de textos sobre representaciones del YO y la naturaleza. 

- Comparación de traducciones de discursos científicos y humanísticos relacionados con la naturaleza y el  medio ambiente.

- Recepción de textos humanísticos medioambientales.

- Análisis,  comparación o revisión de obras clásicas de la literatura medioambiental (e.g. Walden, Campos de Castilla) traducidas bajo alguna teoría traductologíca (domesticación/ extranjerización, skopos,  intervencionismo, re-creación, etc.)

- Estudios sobre la traducción de obras científicas relacionadas con el medio ambiente y problemas que genera.

TRANSLATING ENVIRONMENTAL HUMANITIES

The main theme of Ecozon@’s Spring 2014 issue is the translation of environmental texts, foremost those on the depictions of SELF and nature. In this, there are three essential elements which come into play: the original text, the translator and the target text. Each one of these elements in turn encompasses other elements that in one way or another can influence the final result. The main purpose is to explore these elements. We want to call attention to “translation”, understood as a vehicle of communication between different languages or systems, in order to put forth complementary perspectives on environmental topics. Possible themes include, but are not limited to:

- Studies on the transfer of concepts or environmental metaphors and the implications or the different images generated depending on the cultures.

-  Studies on the translation/interpretation of the languages of other species into words.

- Translation of humanistic texts about nature and the environment as a process (tensions generated, difficulties in translating images, updating classic texts …)

-  Translation of texts depicting SELF and nature.

-   Comparison of translations of scientific and humanistic discourse related to nature and the environment.

-   How environmental humanistic texts are received.

-  Analysis and comparison of classic works of environmental literature (e.g. Walden, Fields of Castile) translated according to a certain traductological theory (domestication/foreignization, skopos, interventionism, recreation, etc.)

-   Studies on the translation of scientific texts related to the environment and problems generated.
